Wasn't one of the friends his golf club secretary?
[edit]I saw more than a decade back a tv programme exploring the Enigma Variations. I well recall, because I still recognise the variation's tune, that one of Elgar's male friends (I forget the name) among the dedicatees was inter alia secretary of his local Malvern golf club. The piece is played as backdrop to an imaginary scene of Elgar on the golf course playing a hole in one, with the ball ending its journey as the music ends with a 'plop'. The article fails to mention which one. It would be worth mentioning as it is one of the few pieces where golf was musically portrayed. Those with more access than I have to Elgar biographies might care to look this up and add that in the article.Cloptonson (talk) 17:57, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
